For a thorough cleaning, dissolve 1 lb. of Filter Free in 5 gallons of lukewarm water.
As a preventative maintenance program, dissolve ½ lb. of Filter Free in lukewarm water.
Note: Always use a plastic pail and mix until solution turns red.
When mixture is dissolved:
Step 1: Stop filtration and drain all water from filter.
For Cartridge Filters:
- Complete Step 1 above.
- If possible, remove cartridges or elements and soak overnight in plastic pail.
- After soaking, rinse thoroughly and replace them in the filter.
If Elements Cannot Be Removed:
- Complete Step 1 as above.
- Add Filter Free solution directly into filter tank. Use sufficient solution to cover elements.
- Let stand overnight and drain, then backwash to thoroughly rinse elements.
