Covers will typically have a lifespan between 3-5 years and will all eventually get waterlogged and need to be replaced. If you're looking for something a little lighter weight you may want to consider upgrading the material on the cover to the weathershield which is lighter weight, more resistant to wear and still good for outside exposure.
