Yes, you can replace a diverter valve yourself. You pry off the top cap, and that will reveal a threaded cap underneath. Unscrew that, and you can lift out the valve. With the diverter disassembled, you can replace the individual components as needed. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, it's best to hire a professional plumber.
